Scores Creep Lower as CGA Just Plays Better

As the CGA passed the half way point, scores began to improve. The league scoring average for week 10 was 46.75 which was down from 47.93 the previous week. The rough remains long but the fairways are starting to show more roll. Or is it the Cronies are starting to understand a little of what is called "course management". I do not have the answers, but the true test will be what happens on Monday as we face the back side where the 47.93 average was shot. Remember, we will play hole #12 from the GREEN tees, so I am sure we will have plenty of eagles and birdies because the GREEN tees are so easy!

Congratulations to Bret Hosket, who recorded the first Eagle of the season. Bret eagled hole 5. The league office has no other notes on the Eagle. Let's pretend he holed out from the greenside bunker.

Low net for the week went to "New Guy" who shot a low net score of 32. After the round, New Guy was feeling real good as he strolled into Bethel. The Cronies ended his jubilation quickly as he was bomb shelled by several Cronies about his pace of play. Insults were fired. Examples were given. Diwik explained that his group played the entire Par 3 eighth hole and "New Guy's" group was not even off of the ninth tee. "New Guy" was told that he should take one practice swing and ideally this one practice swing should be lined up much to the same direction as the actual shot he was about to take. In the end, I pulled "New Guy" aside and explained that we would prefer he not wear pink shirts and keeping your CGA card is a privilege not an entitlement. "New Guy" wrote the league office on Tuesday stating he would do better. Low Net on the Season is still held by Scott Schoemer at net 29.

My pardsy turned in the Low Gross round of the year with a nice even par 36. His round featured a double bogey on 9 coupled with birdies on 6 and 7 when I birdied 8 Chuckie had put together a nice string of 3 birdies in a row as we tried to claw our way back into our match with May K Ebel. Doug May was even par on the 7th tee, thinking his match was over, he went to work on padding his handicap by going six over par over the last three holes. All in all it was a nice match and your leading team of Chuckie was beaten. With Chuckie and BuBu losing the league standings remain very tight. Chuckie has a 22 point over BuBu who has a 9.5 point lead over AyerMayL.

Burkley continues to lead the individual race with a 5 point lead over Greg and a 15 point lead over Ebel. Featured match next week will be the WebbDoggie vs AyerMayL match.
