Thanksgiving (CGA-Style)

On this occasion (my first blog entry as Commissioner of the CGA), and given the time of year, I thought it would be appropriate to list a few of the things I am thankful for:

I am thankful that we have a thriving golf league with 18 members and many long-standing traditions.

I am thankful for all of the great memories this golf league has given me.

I am thankful for Black Diamond.

I am thankful that there is a private course in Central Ohio, Hickory Hills Golf Club, that is very excited to host the CGA in 2011.

I am thankful that the President of Hickory Hills told me personally that they are “committed to making this work.”

I am thankful that Hickory Hills does not have knee-high “heather” on its course.

I am thankful that all 18 members of the CGA will make a concerted effort in 2011 to pick-up our pace of play, so as not to screw-up this golden opportunity that has landed in our laps.

I am thankful that after my first few days on the job, no Cronies have called me to complain about anything, and I am hopeful that this remains the case for awhile.

I am thankful for our two previous CGA Commissioners, who put in countless hours to get us to this point in our history. I am also thankful that much of the unnecessary “email drama” that those two seemingly created every Monday during the season will be retired along with them.

I am thankful for your support in my new endeavor as CGA Commissioner.

And finally, I am thankful that you all realize that I have a life outside of the CGA and am hopeful that my reign as Commish will be drama-free.
