POW goes to Greg May, who shot a 41/34 and defeated Jay Feller 13-2. This was a tough call, mainly because Feller was kind enough to rearrange starting holes and wait for May, who was 10-15 minutes late for his tee time. Yours truly granted special exemption to G in this case because of I-270 being closed....the definition of an "unforseen circumstance" if there ever was one. Special mention for POW goes to Ryan Webb, who for the second week in a row shot the low gross score and was the only player to break 40. Webb, however, is 0-2 in match play this year (the first rule of POW Club is that you must win your match).
Here are a few interesting stats after two weeks of play:
- Only three players can claim a 2-0 record in match play (Ayers, Geraghty and Budzik)
- The average gross score in the league right now is a 48.5.
- The average net score is 41.0, perhaps an indication that Handicaps will be increasing.
- There have been 4 birdies and 21 MNQ's in the league this year.
We're off next week for Memorial Day. I suggest you spend your time wisely by banking some points on the home front. If that is not in the cards for you, let me know where/when your tee time is and I'll try to join you. Lord knows I need the practice.
And one last note...if you haven't paid your league fees by Week 3, don't bother showing up. We know who you are.
