After having played 10 of 14 weeks, we are essentially three quarters of the way done with the season. And if this were a horse race, the crowd in the grandstand would be rising to their feet right about now because coming around the final turn they would see a hole bunch of horses within striking distance.
In the team race, Cat Piss took a dump for the third week in a row, losing 31.5-13.5 to Stickit and Lickit (Mr. Webb was back to his Dr. Death ways firing a 37/33 that included seven pars and two bogies). Somehow though, Cat Piss maintains a five point lead over Fua Twoa who narrowly defeated Dos Hickies 28.5-16.5 (Underwood shot a 38/31 and defeated G. May in the battle of former Commissioners). The biggest winner of the week was 8th place PorterFeller who defeated 7th place Mozikalicious 37-8. I draw attention to this match because of the margin of victory. While a 29 point victory is pretty rare, there are four teams within 29 points of Cat Piss in the standings and there are six teams within 30 points of the money (2nd place). When you look at it that way, you realize that a lot can happen in four weeks.
In the individual race, KC Budzik lost for only the second time this season, this time at the hands of Jay Feller who shot a 45/37 on his way to a 12.5-2.5 drubbing. Tommy Fry nudged a little closer to Budzik in the standings with a 9-6 victory of Joe Ayers, and John Brinkman's 11-4 win over Steve Geraghty vaulted him up to third place. There are five golfers within 10 points of Budzik, and eight golfers within 10 points of the money (3rd place). They say that parity is what makes the NFL such a great league year-in and year-out, and it certainly seems to making for an exciting season in the CGA.
Brad Underwood is your Player of the Week and the first player to get that honor twice this season. In fact, his two POW's have come in his last two rounds....both were 38's shot on the back nine.
One final note, we are kicking out two scores now in the Individual Standings. Have a great week and we'll see you at next Monday's thunderstorm.
