On Monday, the CGA took a page right out of the Thursday's opening round of the Memorial Tournament. It was a beautiful day with sunny skies, a perfect temperature, and a slight breeze that could be heard making its way through the trees. But the story of the day was the lightning quick greens that didn't hold shots like the Cronies had become accustomed to in the first few weeks of the season. Further, the pin placements seemed to be in their Sunday locations, which led to some adventurous putting...at least in my group. All of this resulted in the CGA going high, collectively. Doug May, Jay Feller and Ryan Webb tied for low gross with 44's (Yikes!), while 8 out of 15 cronies shot their highest score of the season to date.
Player of the Week is a tough call, but I think I deserve it based on tying for low gross and low net and winning my match 14-to-1. A very close second goes to Jason Diwik for his 45/33. Diwik lead the pack with 5 pars. Jay Feller (44/34) and Joe Barrett (49/34) were right there in the mix as well, and now find themselves tied atop the Individual Standings with 43 points. Feller and Brad Underwood, both 3-0-1, are the only two Cronies who have not lost a match this season.
See You on Mundy was able to extend its lead in the Team Standings with a 34-11 defeat of Frys & Shakes. SYOM now holds a 17.5 point lead over Steller and a 20 point lead over MoJoe Risin'. There is a relatively big dropoff in points after that, but it is very early. The rest of June will be telling, as SYOM plays the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place teams over the next three weeks.
One final note....remember that we will tee off around 6pm next week as Hickory has a 144-man outing taking place that day. This could effect tee and pin placements as well.
See You on Mundy.
