In the Individual Standings, Doug May (41/35) caught John Brinkman (48/42) on the right night and soundly defeated the former standings leader 13.5-1.5. The victory put May back in 1st place at the halfway mark and he now holds an 8 point lead over Brinkman who fell to 2nd. Jay Feller, Steve Porterfield and Brett Southworth are tied for 3rd, 9.5 points off the pace. May's round consisted of 4 pars and 5 bogies and was the lowest gross among league members (Osborn and Dan Freiburger also shot 41's). He is your Week 8 Player of the Week.
We will start the second half of the season with a Team Modified Alternate Shot event. Both players on a team will tee off on each hole. After the tee shot, player A will hit player B's ball and player B will hit player A's ball. They will then pick the ball they want to use in completing the hole using only one ball. If they choose player A's second shot, player B will hit the third (and vice versa). Players will alternate shots until the ball is holed out. On par 3's, teams will pick the ball they want to play after the tee shot. The balls are to be played as they lie and not be replaced during the play of a hole except as allowed by the rules of golf. Team handicaps will be calculated using 60% of the lower handicap plus 40% of the higher handicap. Similar to Week 1's Team Scramble event, teams will compete against the field and points will be awarded as follows:
- 1st Place = 13 points
- 2nd = 11
- 3rd = 9.5
- 4th = 8
- 5th = 7
- 6th = 5.5
- 7th = 4
- 8th = 2
