Ham & Ham

To win the team standings in the CGA it usually takes both players playing well throughout the season and a lot of "Ham & Eggs".  At year's end, usually one of the winning team's players is at or near the top in the individual standings while the other player is somewhere in the middle.  That is what makes what Chubba Bubba is doing this season pretty rare.  Its "Ham & Ham".  Teammates John Brinkman and Brett Southworth find themselves tied atop the individual standings with 51 points.  Brinkman is 4-1-1 on the year while Southworth is 4-1 (with one miss).  This has resulted in an 15.5 point lead in the team standings over Balls on Fire.  Sure there is a lot of golf still left to be played but next week marks the end of the first half of individual and team matches.  In two weeks we'll have our first-ever Modified Team Shot event and you have to like Chubba Bubba's chances in that as well.

Both Joe Ayers and Greg May made strong cases for Week 7 Player of the Week.  Ayers shot a 39/32 and trounced Doug May (45/40) who was in 1st place and riding a four week winning streak.  G. May shot a 37/32 that included 7 pars and beat Tommy Freiburger's 45/34.  Ayers and May split the Low Net Instant Cash ($30 each) generously provided by our 3 subs.  Tough call but it says here that this week's POW is Greg May by virtue of his low gross score, his 7 pars which is the most by any player in the league this season (and tied by sub Ryan Webb this week), and his defeat of a tougher opponent in Week 7 (T. Fry's net 34).

The end of my four week win streak got me thinking about streaks.  Below is a list of each player's current streak, listed in order of "hottest player" to "coldest player":
  1. Brinkman   W3
  2. Southworth, Porterfield, Ayers   W2
  3. G. May, Tzagournis, Benack   W1
  4. D. May, Barrett, Underwood   L1
  5. Feller, Freiburger, Geraghty, Burkley, Budzik   L2
  6. Diwik   L3
