It is very difficult in the CGA to go on any sort of winning streak that last 3 weeks or more. In Week 7, Pistachios derailed Chubba Bubba's bid for a 3rd consecutive win and 3rd consecutive co-Player of the Week awards. Led by George Tzagournis' impressive 42/32 and complimented by Bret Benack's best round of the season (54/36), Pistachios swept Chubba Bubba 36.5/8.5. Tzagournis had 4 pars, 4 bogeys and a double and earns the nod for Week 7 POW. But only barely over Ryan Webb and Doug May, who also had net 32's. Webb made 7 pars and 2 bogeys on his way to a gross 38. While May won the annual grudge match with his brother for the first time since 2011 and led Hear Ye! to a 38/7 silencing of Peter Piper.
In Week 8, we had two Cronies improve on the previous best Low Net score this season (32). Rob Burkley and Ryan Webb both shot even par 35's with Burkley's good for a net 29 and Webb's for a net 30. Burkley had 3 birdies, 4 pars, a bogey and a double and is your Week 8 Player of the Week. Webb's round included 2 birdies, 5 pars and 2 bogeys. Webb has now shot a gross 73, two over par, over the past two weeks. Welcome back Dr. Death.
Keep in mind that stats for Week 8 will not be updated until our webmaster general returns from vacation. Its difficult to discuss the standings until that time. Stay tuned to Dougie Style for an in-depth analysis of the Individual and Team Standings at the halfway point (after next week's action). At that point, all teams will have been on one bye and the standings will begin to throw two scores out for all individuals.
