Week 4: There's Still Some Magic Left in That Bag

After four weeks of play Magic Bag finds themselves in a familiar place ... first place. A pair of 42's was more than enough to take down State Champs in Week 4 in a battle of the top two teams to date in the 2017 season. State Champs did all they could do (and then some*), but it wasn't enough to stop the defending Team Champions from unseating them at the top of the First Half Standings.

Tom Freiburger took over the reigns of It's No Gay while his partner was forced to miss. Young Tom fired a stellar 39/31 to claim top individual honors for the week in CGA Cup points. Rob Burkley's low gross 37/33 was second, while Jay Feller and Brad Underwood tied for 3rd with 42/35.

The CGA will be off next Monday in observance of Memorial Day. Week 5 matches will be played on the evening of Tuesday, May 30.

There has been a lot of talk this year about the condition of the bunkers at the Hick. Work is underway to repair the greenside bunkers around the course and visible signs of improvement can be seen. However, many greenside bunkers have no sand in them at the moment, rendering them unplayable by any standard, and yet the league has to date opted not to declare them as such. This prompted one reader to submit the following poem, which has been reprinted here with his permission:

Hickory Dickory Donk
Can quickly make you suck conk
No sand in the bunks
Leads to violent buttfunks
If you are with me give me a honk!

Just remember kids ... Winning isn't everything. Just have fun and learn about the game.

* According to Underwood, Ryan Webb caused a car to honk in the middle of Jud Deshler's backswing on the 11th tee.
